Report on the CCPForge User Meeting - 16 Januray 2014

The CCPForge User Meeting was held on the 16th January 2014 at the STFC Rutherford Appleton Laboratory to which around 30 users and presenters attend. The basic agenda was:

  • An introduction to the SESC Service - David Worth

  • A series of talks from current users about their experiences of CCPForge and other SESC facilities
    • Keith Refson - The use of CCPForge for CASTEP development and distribution

CCPForge Users' Meeting Jan 16 2014

We are organising a users' meeting for 16th January 2014 at Rutherford Appleton Laboratory in Oxfordshire.

The day will comprise a number of talks from CCPForge users, one from the Software Sustainability Institute and one from the new UK HPC service ARCHER.  The CCPForge team will give an overview of our plans for CCPForge and we have allowed time for discussion of the service and its future.

CCPForge now part of the Software Engineering Support Centre

The Software Engineering Support Centre (SESC) is a 5 year £1M EPSRC funded programme to provide software engineering support to UK research computing.

The centre was proposed by the CCPs and the Steering Committee for the SLA between EPSRC and STFC's Scientific Computing Department to ensure continued funding for CCPForge and wider software engineering support.  CCPForge is a major part of SESC and will continue to be run in the same way as at present... CCPForge outage 16/17 February 2013

Due to a power shutdown for work in the machine room hosting the CCPForge server on 16/17 February 2013 we have to shut down CCPForge.

The shutdown will start at 1600 (GMT) on Friday 15th February and, if everything goes to plan, CCPForge will restart at 0830 (GMT) on Monday 18th.

We apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause.

CCPForge unavailable Tuesday 19/06/12

Work is taking place tomorrow (Tuesday 19/06/12) to replace a router at the Rutherford Appleton Labratory site (home of CCPForge). This will mean a loss of access to CCPForge.

The work will start at 08:00 and the Lab networking team hope to finish by 10:00. If a problem arises and there is a guaranteed resolution in sight, work will go on until 12:00.
